We source our logs locally where possible and kiln-dry them on our own site. We aim for moisture content of 18% and lower, so our logs burn cleaner, burn hotter & burn longer. Fewer logs = more heat = less ash & tar.
Process Overview
- After initial delivery and stacking in the storage yard, the timber is cut and split into conveniently sized logs, using our firewood processor.
- The logs are then stacked in our drying kiln. They remain in the kiln for a minimum of four days, at a temperature of approximately 70oC, until the desired moisture content has been achieved. We aim for a moisture content of below 18%.
- Once the drying process is complete, the logs are either stored in our dry log storage area or delivered straight to the customer.
